The Oceangoing vessels division of Van der Velden® Marine Systems will feature its latest developments at the Posidonia exhibition, which will be held on 8 – 11 June 2010, in Piraeus, Greece. You can find Van der Velden in Hall no. 3 at the Technava S.A stand, no. 366. Highlights of the presentation will include the TIMON rudder model.

The well known TIMON flap-type rudder has a slide-bar flap linkage. It is the perfect solution for excellent manoeuvrability. Thanks to the flap-type principle, the TIMON rudder has a high maximum lift that results in a first class manoeuvring performance. The simple slide-bar flap linkage is easy to maintain and construct, so this manoeuvrability comes at a competitive price. The slim profile design ensures that the drag is low.

BARKE® rudder One of the key products is the original BARKE® rudder, which ensures excellent manoeuvrability and course keeping qualities. An innovative and sophisticated high-lift design results in minimal wear on the linkage and reduces noise and vibration. These benefits are keenly appreciated and more than 1300 oceangoing vessels, varying from dredgers to multi-purpose vessels, have already installed the BARKE® rudder.

COMMANDER™ Rotary vane steering gear The new Van der Velden COMMANDER™ rotary vane steering gear incorporates the second generation of compact rudder actuators. The advanced sealing technology prevents internal leakage and offers a greatly extended seal life. The simple, robust and compact design of the steering gear and the fact that it only has one movable part ensures trouble-free and maintenance-free operation.
