The marine safety charge paid by cruise ships will be reduced from October 1 this year, Transport Minister Steven Joyce said today. The per passenger charge of $8.29 will go down to $3.30. Mr Joyce said Maritime NZ had collected more money than had been anticipated, or required, from the industry.
