With the establishment of Blue Offshore a specialist marine engineering contractor has entered the subsea cable installation market with the focus on the development of the world’s wind and tidal potential. Blue Offshore will initially provide subsea cable installation services for offshore wind farms. They will assist their customers with innovative standalone and module-based solutions to suit their particular needs.

Blue Offshore will provide all the products and services required for subsea cable and umbilical installation, ranging from project management, design and engineering to installation and terminations. They will involve highly qualified individuals with proven track records and strategic partners in the provision of these services, resulting in fast response times, service reliability and accuracy.

With respect to installation equipment, Blue Offshore is currently finalizing details with a number of suppliers for the provision of subsea cable installation equipment, including a turntable with 7,000 tons carrying capacity and specialist burial tools. This equipment will become available for installation purposes in 2011. It can be used on anchor-moored barges and/or dynamically positioned vessels, largely depending on the customer’s project requirements. In addition, the equipment can be used for storage purposes.
