The foreign shipping companies and agents are fleecing importers on different heads, as the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has failed to take any action against them, importers and exporters said Thursday. Despite the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO)’s directions to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to actively consider proposing effective remedial measures in the Finance Bill 2010-11 in order to curb illegal charges, the shipping companies and agents continued to claim illegal money to the tune of millions of rupees monthly.
