Uruguay’s national ports authority ANP has decided to focus its efforts on construction of a deepwater port in Rocha department over other projects, ANP’s vice president, Juan Jose Dominguez, told BNamericas. A deepwater port is becoming essential as Uruguay’s trade activity increases, Dominguez said. The terminal could also serve as a regional hub for other nations, with goods and products being delivered by train or by cabotage vessels, Domiguez said.
