The seismic/research vessel Oceanic Vega for the shipowner Eidesvik Seismic Vessels AS, has the last week been on successfully sea trials.

Oceanic Vega is a seismic/research vessel of type ULSTEIN SX120, and is the first of two sisterships for the shipowner Eidesvik Seismic Vessels AS. The ship goes into a 12-year contract for CGG Veritas (one of the world’s leading geophysical exploration specialists), with options for five years.

The vessel capacities of 5,530 dwt, measure approximately 106m(l) x 28m(w) and feature Ulstein Design & Solution’s innovative X-BOW® hull line design, formulated to provide superior handling in tempestuous conditions and to limit hydrodynamic drag, thereby reducing fuel costs. The vessel are robust enough to operate in both Equatorial and Arctic waters, and have been classified by DNV and comply with the class society’s ‘Clean Design’ emission stipulations.

Tuesday this week, a group of international maritime journalists visit the maritime cluster at Sunnmøre. They enjoyed going out with the mob-boat to watch Oceanic Vega on it’s seatrial.

Naming ceremony will be as planned the 2nd of July.
