Wood Group, the international energy services company, has been selected by Chevron Global Upstream and Gas to provide ready-for-start-up operations support services for the Wheatstone Project LNG plant on the northwest coast of Australia.

Work will be performed by ODL, Wood Group’s consultancy company specializing in operations & maintenance.

ODL’s consultancy services will include LNG plant operations, maintenance and instrumentation/electrical systems consulting services.

The scope of work includes providing operations & maintenance technical expertise to aid Chevron in developing the front-end engineering design and project execution planning; reviewing piping & instrument diagrams and process-related drawings to aid in resolving potential conflicts; and participating in hazardous operations (hazops) studies and other process safety management reviews.

“Our operations engineers and consultants combine hands-on industry knowledge with best-practice technical expertise,” explained Bill Cochrane, managing director of ODL.

“This combination enables us to provide market-leading services that will deliver safety, efficiency and cost-saving benefits to Chevron’s Wheatstone project.”

“Australia is a key market for Wood Group and we have been expanding our presence there,” stated Les Thomas, director of Wood Group’s Production Facilities activities.

“We have provided engineering services for other Australian LNG projects and are very pleased to be expanding our support to the sector with this contract for operations support services.”
