The Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Dutch Association of Inland Terminal Operators (VITO) initiate and will implement a quality mark for inland terminals. It aims at attracting more cargo to inland shipping.
The quality mark will make it possible for shippers and logistics service providers to easily gain insight into the qualities and added value of (mainly) inland barge terminals, especially those in the Dutch hinterland. The certification for the quality mark is based on five criteria: Sustainability Security Service IT Customs handling
The plan is to already award the first certificates after the summer. The quality mark helps inland terminals to better market themselves and with that contributes to a further modal shift.
