Tax incentives for ship operators and a focus on training Australian seafarers were among a raft of measures announced by Federal transport minister Anthony Albanese today in an effort to revitalise the national shipping industry. Speaking at the Australian Ship Owners’ Association mid-winter luncheon in Melbourne this afternoon, Mr Albanese said government policies would allow Australian businesses to invest in Australian-registered ships.
