Azerbaijan: SOCAR Drills Two New Wells at Gunashli Field

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) continues development of its key offshore field – Guneshli.

Company’s statement says that it has finished drilling of well #80 from platform #13 and well #56 from platform #11. Well #312 from platform #13 is underway.

“Well #56 at depth of 3 750 m uncovered horizon Gala-2. Well #80 reached depth of 4 100 m. Core samples for study have been taken from both wells,” it was reported.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) (Azerbaijani: Aərbaycan Respublikası Dövlət Neft Şirkəti) is the state-owned oil and natural gas corporation of Azerbaijan. It is considered to be one of the largest companies in the world.It produces oil and natural gas, operates the country’s two oil refineries and the running of oil and gas pipelines through out the country. ‘SOCAR’ oversees the international consortia that is developing new oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan. SOCAR is ranked 68th largest company in the world and is worth $20 billion.
