On October 11, the 200th standard cargo of LNG produced since the launch of the first Russian LNG plant was shipped from the Prigorodnoye seaport.
This anniversary cargo is intended for Tokyo Electric, the largest consumer of the Sakhalin LNG. The volume of the standard LNG cargo is 145 thousand cubic metres.
“The shipment of the 200th cargo is a conclusive evidence that our integrated production chain, from offshore platforms at the north of the island to the loading jetty at the south, is operating reliably and safely”, said Andrey Galaev, the Company’s CEO. – “With LNG plant reaching its full production capacity earlier this year, LNG supplies from Sakhalin have become a key factor in ensuring the security of energy supply in the region”.
The Sakhalin Energy’s LNG plant came on stream in February 2009. The annual design capacity of the plant is 9.6 million tonnes, which corresponds to 5% of the world LNG production.
Since the launch of the plant Sakhalin Energy has shipped some 13 million tonnes of LNG, of which more than 60% was delivered to Japan. Sakhalin LNG was also sold to South Korea, India, Kuwait, People’s Republic of China and Taiwan.
