Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, the leading manufacturer of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, announced that it has added Software Development to its Certificate of Registration of Quality Management System to I.S. EN ISO 9001:2008.
The company has been assessed by an independent agency and deemed to comply with the provisions of the above standard in respect to its scope of operations for the design, software development, manufacture, sales and service of autonomous underwater vehicles.

ISO 9001: 2008 is one of a group of the ISO 9000 quality management systems standards maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization. This organization, composed of the national standards institutes of 161 countries, is the world’s largest developer and publisher of international standards. The standards are administered by accreditation and certification bodies worldwide and are updated as requirements change over time.
Hydroid’s REMUS AUVs are modular and may be fitted with a large number of different types of sensors and have been used to aid in hydrographic surveys, harbor security operations, debris field mapping, scientific sampling and mapping, as well as many basic and applied research programs funded by ONR, DARPA and the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense. With over 200 vehicles in the field, Hydroid is currently the AUV market leader with systems in use by thirteen NATO and other navies around the world.
