Emerson announces the opening of an Engineering and Development Center within the recently expanded Asia Flow Technology Center operated by Emerson Process Management in Nanjing, China. By facilitating local development of innovative products in Asia, Emerson will strengthen the company’s capabilities in supporting customers in this rapidly growing region with process automation technologies and solutions tailored to address customer challenges and needs.

The new Engineering and Development Center brings Emerson’s total investment in the center in Nanjing to more than US$35 million and strengthens the company’s overall presence in China and Asia Pacific.

The new Engineering and Development Center expands the scope of Emerson’s Nanjing campus which already operates as the Asian regional production, distribution hub, and ISO17025 accredited calibration center for Emerson Process Management’s leading flow metering and measurement technologies. Engineering and development capabilities being added to the facility will include sensor and electronics design, multi-fluid application testing, environmental testing and analysis, and modeling capabilities for Micro Motion® Coriolis flow and density meters, Rosemount® vortex and magnetic flowmeters, and Daniel™ ultrasonic and differential pressure flowmeters.

Products designed and developed at this facility will be used to serve customers in the oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, marine, life sciences, food and beverage, metals and mining, and pulp and paper industries.

“ We continuously strive to understand local customer requirements and now have the ability to respond to those needs with a local design team ,” said Larry Flatt , Emerson Process Management, vice president, Flow Group. “ The new Engineering and Development Center complements our now fully established manufacturing and distribution center and co-locates design engineers with marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain resources. This powerful combination of talent in a single location substantially accelerates our ability to create new and innovative solutions that deliver value and unparalleled plant performance for our customers .”

The site expansion includes adding design engineering office space and the addition of comprehensive engineering test and design equipment.
