Aibel has been awarded a letter of intent from Statoil in connection with the new test facility for subsea compressors at Kårstø. The estimated value of the contract is NOK 200 million.

The new test facility will be part of the Kårstø metering and technology laboratory, K-lab.

“ Aibel knows Kårstø well and has recently won several new contracts at the processing facility. The K-lab project means that we will strengthen our position at Kårstø, ” says President and CEO Jan Skogseth in Aibel.

Full service provider

Through the contract Aibel will deliver verification of the concept and detailed engineering work. In addition, Aibel will build and install instrumentation, electrical and mechanical equipment.

When the K-lab project is completed, Kårstø can start using the new test facility for subsea compressors for the Åsgard field.

The project will be run from Aibel in Haugesund. Approximately 100 employees will be engaged in the work.

The K-lab project is a fast-track project. The engineering starts immediately and will be carried out with assistance from Aibel’s office in Petersfield, UK. The project runs until the end of February 2013.
