Niels Bergh-Hansen, 62, member of DONG Energy’s Group Management and Executive Vice President of the business units Generation and Renewables, has decided to retire as of 1 October 2011.

“ You need to quit while you’re ahead and now it’s time for me to stop. I’ve been very pleased with my job and I’m grateful for having contributed to the great results that we’ve achieved over the years. Now, new and younger forces must continue the exciting work that Generation and Renewables are facing,” says Niels Bergh-Hansen, who will now focus on board responsibilities.

CEO Anders Eldrup says:

“ Niels Bergh-Hansen has played a pivotal role in DONG Energy’s transition to far greener energy generation, and I have valued our cooperation highly. DONG Energy and the Danish energy industry owe Niels a considerable debt of gratitude for the experience, knowledge and insight he has contributed with over the years to the development of the Danish energy sector.”

In continuation of Niels Bergh-Hansen’s decision, DONG Energy has initiated a process aimed at putting in place the future management of the two business units.

A farewell reception for Niels Bergh-Hansen will be held at DONG Energy’s head quarter in Skærbæk on Friday 30 September 2011.

The information provided in this announcement does not change DONG Energy’s previous financial guidance for the 2011 financial year or the announced expected investment level.
