Stuart Wordsworth, general manager of InterAct, an Acteon company, has been voted onto the board of Decom North Sea at the organisation’s annual general meeting in Dunblane, UK.

Established in 2010, Decom North Sea works to enhance knowledge transfer, facilitate collaborative activities and to ensure that the UK supply chain can capture maximum economic benefit from the £30 billion plus decommissioning workload facing the North Sea oil and gas industry over the next few decades. Stuart’s role will be to represent the specialist advisers, consultants and project managers sector of the organisation’s membership.

The Decom North Sea board has responsibility for operational matters; directing the preparation of business plans and financial projections; establishing aims; strategy; long-term organisational structure; membership and research levels; and performance indicators. The board is also responsible for developing membership rules and regulations. The current areas of focus for Decom North Sea include providing more reliable market intelligence and assessing the skills and training needs for the industry.

Commenting on his new role Wordsworth said, “ Decom North Sea has rapidly become the key industry body for the decommissioning sector, so naturally I am excited to take a role on the board and bring InterAct’s and the wider Acteon group’s decommissioning experience to the table. This is a great opportunity for the industry to shape this growing market for the benefit of operators and the supply chain alike.”

Brian Nixon, Decom North Sea chief executive, said, “We are delighted to welcome the new directors onto the board. They all offer a high level of experience and knowledge, which is ideal for the body as we become increasingly involved in building relationships and facing challenges together in the decommissioning sector .”

Acteon companies, including InterAct, have worked on some of the North Sea’s most significant decommissioning campaigns – linking subsea services across a broad range of interconnected disciplines.
