Peritus International Ltd has been retained by SAGE to act as overall project management and pipeline design consultants for the planned Middle East to India Deepwater Pipeline (MEIDP), which will be the first of many in a corridor of pipelines that will form the final leg of a major energy supply route linking the Middle East with India.

In an article published in World Pipelines magazine in January 2011, Peter Carr (Peritus US) and Ian Nash (Peritus UK) discuss the business and technical risks facing the proposed pipeline, one of the deepest and longest subsea pipelines ever planned.

Details of the conceptual studies performed in 2010 and Q1 2011, have been presented at the Offshore Pipelines Technology conference (OPT) held in February 2011 and at the Offshore Technology conference (OTC) in May 2011, where the background and socio political driver were investigated and the basis of design, pipeline routing, metocean and geohazard issues, mechanical design, flow assurance, installability and intervention have been investigated.

Further studies in 2011 have included the potential for a midline compression station including high capacity, extra large high pressure flexible risers and subsea bypass, deepwater repair systems and the preparation of detailed cost estimates and construction schedule, these aspects where presented in an article in Sea Technology Magazine in September 2011.

A further presentation which discussed in detail the MEIDP requirements for Installation, Intervention and Emergency Repair, has been given at the Deep and Ultra-deep Water Pipeline Conference, held in Paris in September 2011.
