Leading international oilfield services company Expro has achieved the Shell Goal Zero award for 1,980 days without any recordable incidents as of July 31, 2011 for its Malaysian operations.

The award is given to the contractor at every 180-day cycle when the period is achieved without any recordable incidents.

Although Expro is not the direct contract holder for this project, Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) has recognised the company’s contribution to its Goal Zero campaign.

A plaque in recognition of the achievement was presented by Ian Hammil, Shell drilling engineer to Stephane Chamoin, Expro’s Malaysia & remote business unit manager, who received the esteemed award during the monthly Shell Wells Contractor Safety meeting in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Mr. Chamoin said: “ Shell has played an important role towards us achieving this milestone, by keeping safety as their top priority and with added emphasis in pushing contractors for immaculate performance with regards to safety.

“With the recent record of LTI’s (lost time incidents) happening around the industry and the amount of risks that the crews are exposed to on a daily basis, the level of safety that our colleagues work at is commendable.”

Graeme Copland, Expro’s Shell global account manager , said: “This is a tremendous achievement and the recognition is well deserved. Both Shell and Expro are very much aligned in our joint desire to achieve a workplace where there is no harm to people or damage to the environment. This award demonstrates that not only is Goal Zero possible but is actually achievable.

“By continuing to work in accordance with Shell’s Life Saving Rules and our own House Rules, we have raised the bar in working safely.”
