Awilco Drilling PLC confirmed yesterday the signing of the contract with Ithaca Energy (UK) Limited for the provision of WilHunter to drill the Hurricane appraisal well in the Central North Sea.
The contract value is estimated to be USD 15.7 million. The contract is expected to commence mid Q1 2012.
WilHunter is one of Awilco Drilling’s two Enhanced Pacesetter semi-submersibles and is equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,500 ft.
Ithaca Energy has recently signed an agreement with Dyas to divest a 25.34% interest in Block 29/10b, which contains the Hurricane field, with an effective date of 1 January 2011.
