During the winter navigation 2011-12 fifteen diesel electric icebreakers and one atomic icebreaker will be operating in the Gulf of Finland.

The A-ship is affreighted for 100 days and it will set off from Murmansk for Saint Petersburg on the 23rd of January 2012. The vessel operation contract`s cost goes beyond 300 million rubles, said Andrey Lavrischev, FSUE “Rosmorport” General director during briefing meeting that took place in Saint Petersburg.

Icebreaker pilotage applications will be received electronically and processed automatically by a Situation Centre that had started its work in Greater seaport of Saint Petersburg. Decisions on pilotage priorities will be taken by the system on the basis of the Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation regulatory acts concerning the icebreaking pilotages conditions.
