Vallourec subsidiary, Serimax, a full service welding specialist, has appointed Frederic Castrec as managing director to replace David Williams.

Mr Castrec joined Serimax in 1996 as a welding engineer and held a number of senior positions, including Chief Operating Officer, prior to taking over the managing director role.

Serimax provides welding expertise and project management for land and marine pipelines, spoolbases and offshore fabrication in the oil, gas, water and petrochemical industries.

David Williams, who has led the management team since 2006 and negotiated the 800 strong company through the acquisition by Vallourec in June 2010, will continue to play an important role in the growth of the business as a consultant on strategic projects.

Mr Castrec said: “ I am looking forward to building on the foundations laid down by David Williams and guiding Serimax in to new markets as we continue our tradition of designing and developing cutting edge welding technologies.

“David played a significant role in developing Serimax as the leading provider of full service welding activities. We are delighted he will continue to lend his support on major strategic projects and compliment the strength of the existing management team, which otherwise remains unchanged.”
