The largest vacuum infused fishing vessel in the world, named the S-70 Saga K, has been unveiled in Norway.

The vessel, which accounts for the largest new build so far, has been delivered on December 16, 2011 by the boatbuilder Seigla Ehf to Eskøy AS in Tromsø.

The S-70 Saga K, 14.98 meters long and 5.7 meters wide, features the 8-person accommodation, Yanmar 6AYM-GTE engine, ZF 3500IU gear, TMP500L marine crane and the Viking life save equipment.

Seigla Ehf says the innovative fibre composite manufacturing process makes the the S-70 Saga K, stronger and therefore safer thus the new build is also the largest fibreglass vessel ever build in Iceland.

With 20 years of experience, Seigla Ehf started with vacuum infusion in 2003 and became a specialist in this. Currently Seigla Ehf has 25 employees and many specialized partners. The company builds 10 to 15 boats a year, depending on size. Since the first delivery made in January 2001, Seigla Ehf delivered 80 boats until August 1, 2011. It is expected to reach the 100th delivery in the year 2012. The company invented the drop keel and won the Nor-Fishing innovation Prize in 2008 with this.
