Bergen Group Fosen has this week been awarded two contracts related to conversion and maintenance work. The contracts will first and foremost generate work in the rest of December 2011 and throughout January 2012.
One contract is for renovation of the propulsion system on the car ferry “Olav Duun”. This project is expected complete in the spring of 2012. The second contract with Hurtigruten is related to a 10-year classing of “Trollfjord”. This project will be fully implemented in January 2012.
The car ferry “Olav Duun” was built in 1999 by Harstadverftet and has a length of 64.5 meters. The Hurtigruten-ship “Trollfjord” was built by Bergen Group Fosen in 2002. The ship has a length of 136 meters with a capacity of 822 passengers.
Bergen Group Fosen AS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bergen Group ASA. The yard is located in Rissa municipality north of Trondheim, and has a strong order book which includes delivery of three new buildings in 2012. The yard currently has about 230 employees.
