Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) says phases 17 & 18 of the South Pars gas field will be operational until September 2012.
“The phase 17 is scheduled to become operational in July and the phase 18 of the South Pars gas field will be launched in September 2012,” IOEC manager of phases 17 and 18 project Mohsen Jazayeri said.
“At Khorramshahr Yard and for the construction and launch of facilities, we have not used any foreign workers or specialists and only Iranians have been involved in the project,” he added.
IOEC manger of Khorramshahr Yard Hossein Badvi told Press TV developing the joint gas field was one of the priorities of the Iranian government.
“They’ve already completed the construction of five decks at the Yard of Khorramshahr and began the construction of the tripod six month ago and now they are ready to be installed,” Badvi said.
“Our company is able enough to supply tools, materials, equipment, and spare parts needed for Iran’s oil and gas platforms,” he added.
The development of phases 17 & 18 of South Pars gas field is to be implemented to produce 50 million cubic meters of natural gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensate , 400 MT of sulfur per day, and also 1 million MT of ethane and 1.05 million MT of liquid propane and butane (LPG) per annum.
The onshore facilities of this project will be constructed in Asalouyeh region, some 100 kilometers from Asalouyeh coast. The offshore facilities of this project include four drilling platforms with 44 wells, two 32-inch submarine pipelines for transferring the gas, and two 4-inch pipelines for transferring Glycol solution.
The South Pars gas field is a natural gas field located in the Persian Gulf and shared by Iran and Qatar.
The Iranian share, which is divided into 24 phases, has about 14 trillion cubic meters of gas, or about eight percent of the world’s total reserves and more than 18 billion barrels of Liquefied Natural Gas resources.
