The telecommunications service provider du has reported that one of the two under-sea cable cuts reported earlier this week, was fixed and connection is renewed.

“We are happy to report some updates on the cable cuts matter as we received a confirmation from operators of SMW3 that the cut has been restored.” states du .

The restoration of the second cable (i2i) is likely to take one or two weeks, cable operators said.

“ The cable cuts caused some capacity reduction, but the reduction was within the set threshold. Thus, the Internet service degradation is unlikely because the buffer exceeds the percentage of capacity reduction, ” the operators stated regarding the impact of the cut.

du reported two international submarine cable cuts in Suez, Egypt and between Chennai and Singapore.

The first cable cut happened on SMW3 cable in Suez, Egypt and the second on i2i between Chennai and Singapore.
