On 7 and 8 December 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Statoil in connection with the engineering of load-bearing structures on Valemon’s jacket.
The objective was, through spot checks, to ensure the engineering of the load-bearing structures is taking place pursuant to the applicable regulatory framework.
PSA said that no nonconformities were identified, but there were still Improvement items were identified in connection with the scope of verifications, effect of weight increase in the event of a fire and attenuation of jacket structures.
The Valemon field is one of Statoil’s large field developments on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and contains recoverable reserves of about 206 million barrels of oil equivalent.
The Valemon field is located in the North Sea between Kvitebjørn and Gullfaks South, roughly 160 kilometres west of Bergen.
