One of Australia’s leading gas producers, Santos, is expected to commence gas production from its Wortel project offshore Indonesia by month’s end, reported Reuters today, quoting Indonesian upstream oil and gas regulator BP Migas.
Santos’ gas field field is situated 7 km west of the Santos-operated Oyong oil and gas field, offshore Madura Island in the Sampang PSC, East Java, Indonesia.
Wortel, on which Santos and partners reportedly spent US$100 million gross, is tied via a 10-kilometre gas pipeline to the existing Oyong well-head platform. Produced gas from the field flow through the existing 60-kilometre pipeline to the onshore gas processing facility at Grati for processing and onward sale.
Reuters said that 60 per cent of Wortel gas would be sold to PT Indonesia Power under an agreement signed late November 2010.
