South Korea imported 4,806,964 mt of LNG in December, up 46.6% from the same month in 2010 when the country purchased 3,278,930 mt of LNG, Korea Customs Service data showed.
The country’s LNG imports dropped in November to 3.55 million mt of LNG, compared to the year before.
Qatar and Indonesia supplied more than 40 percent of the December LNG imports, customs data showed.
Recently, Japan and South Korea have reached a basic agreement to jointly buy LNG, in the hope of lowering import prices.
