On January 15th 2012, Lauritzen Offshore took delivery of Dan Sabia, the second of two identical purpose-built 59,000 dwt double-hull DP2 shuttletankers from Cosco Nantong shipyard in China.

The shuttle tanker newbuilding features state-of-the-art design and dynamic positioning technology, which enables the vessel to automatically maintain position and heading by using its own propellers and thrusters while transferring oil safely via the bow loading system from floating production, storage, and offloading units (FPSOs) for transport to shore.

The sister vessel, Dan Cisne was delivered in September 2011.

Sabià (the thrush) is the national bird of Brazil and Cisne (the swan) is the national bird of Denmark.

In addition to its three shuttletankers (Dan Eagle, Dan Cisne and Dan Sabia), Lauritzen Offshore’s fleet of dynamically positioned service vessels also comprises the advanced Accommodation and Support Vessel Dan Swift. All four vessels are operating in Brazilian waters on long-term charters to companies in the Petrobras group.

Lauritzen Offshore’s DP units are all registered with the Danish International Ship registry while manning is comprised of mainly Danish officers having undergone an extensive J. Lauritzen training program in DP2 tanker operation.
