Aibel, a leading supplier of services related to oil, gas and renewable energy. has won the contract to further develop the concept for the topsides on the Dagny platform. The contract with Statoil is worth approximately NOK 80 million (USD 13.4 million).
“Dagny is one of the largest construction projects on the Norwegian continental shelf in the years ahead and it is exciting for us to be involved in defining the solution for the platform,” says President and CEO Jan Skogseth of Aibel AS.
The contract is for a FEED study (Front End Engineering Design). The work will start immediately. Much larger than Gudrun
Dagny is an oil and gas field located north of Sleipner West in the North Sea. Gas was originally found on the field in the 1970s. The concept for a possible field development, with a fixed platform and an oil tanker for offshore storage is now ready.
Aibel will also have study responsibility for the interface between the platform deck and legs. The same applies between the deck and the floating offshore storage vessel, the drilling system and wells, and the pipelines and tie-in with Sleipner. Apply Leirvik is designing the living quarters for Aibel.
“We conducted a similar study for the Gudrun platform, which we are now in the process of building. Being selected by Statoil once again to develop the concept shows that we are a leading provider of new-builds on the Norwegian continental shelf,” says Skogseth.
The deck for the Dagny platform will weigh around 14,000 tonnes and is therefore one and a half times the size of Gudrun’s deck.
100 engineers required
The study is to be ready by 1 June and the office in Oslo will be responsible for developing the concept. At the most, there will be 100 engineers working on the project.
