Esso Highlands Limited, an affiliate of ExxonMobil and operator of the PNG LNG project said today that this morning a landslide occurred in the Southern Highlands of Papua New Guinea.
“ Esso Highlands has been in communication with government, including the National Disaster and Emergency Relief Office ,” the company said in a statement.
“ Our immediate concern is for the safety and wellbeing of our workforce and the community in the area. We have offered our support to the Government and the local community ,” Esso Highlands added.
The main road between Nogoli and Hides has been blocked.
The company has shut down work in the Hides and Komo area.
