The number of companies that have bought the NPD’s seismic data package from Lofoten and Vesterålen has risen to a total of 9.
On January 11, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate announced that seven companies, Statoil, ExxonMobil, Norske Shell, RWE Dea Norge, GDF Suez, Dong Energy and Det norske oljeselskap, had bought the seismic data package.
By 23 January, two more companies, Chevron Norge AS and Total E&P Norge AS agreed to acquire the Lofoten and Vesterålen data.
The price of the seismic data package is NOK 43.2 million (USD 7.19 million) plus VAT.
“I am very pleased by the response to the offer to purchase seismic data. It’s obvious that the companies find this interesting,” said exploration director Sissel Eriksen in the NPD.
The NPD acquired seismic data off Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja on assignment from the Norwegian government between 2007 and 2009. These surveys cost a total of NOK 420 million (USD 70 million) .
