Petrobras said it has discovered oil and natural gas in the Solimões Basin, Block SOL-T-171, in the State of Amazonas.
The discovery took place during drilling of well 1-BRSA-961-AM, unofficially known as Igarapé Chibata Leste. Located in Coari, 25 km from the Urucu Oil Province, the well was drilled to a final depth of 3,295 meters.
Tests have indicated a production capacity of 1,400 barrels per day of good quality oil (41º API) and 45,000 m3 of natural gas, in the Juruá Formation.
This is the second successful exploration in Block SOL-T-171, where the Discovery Evaluation Plan of well 1-BRSA-769-AM has been underway since 2010, unofficially known as Igarapé Chibata.
If the economic viability of the findings is confirmed, there will be a new oil and natural gas production cluster in the Solimões Basin.
Petrobras holds 100% of the exploration and production rights in the Concession. The company’s current production in the state of Amazonas is 53,000 barrels of oil and 11 million m3 of natural gas per day, in addition to 1,300 tons/day of LPG.
