Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (PGNiG) said it has prepared a draft of the Gas Deregulation Programme, which will be released for public consultations.
The Programme’s objective is to create a market environment in which it will be possible to deregulate gas prices for institutional customers.
“ PGNiG SA had previously indicated that it was aware of possible significant changes in the natural gas market in Poland after its liberalisation. With such developments in mind, the Company is preparing a competitive and flexible offering for its customers, which will help retain them ,” PGNiG said in a statement.
According to the Company’s forecasts, the prices of natural gas after the market is liberalised will tend to level with those in the Czech Republic and Germany. The German market is expected to be a benchmark for the prices in Poland. PGNiG SA also intends to trade in natural gas on the European market and thus compensate for losing some of its domestic market share.
