Sonardyne International has received an order for 6G positioning technology from Forum Subsea Technologies’ equipment rental business, DPS Offshore.

The Dunker 6 and ROVNav 6 positioning and telemetry transceivers will augment DPS Offshore’s current stock of 6G equipment and offer customers the flexibility to reconfigure the equipment to meet the broadest possible range of subsea positioning and subsea communication applications.

6G products utilise Sonardyne’s ultra-wideband width, digital ranging and telemetry protocols. Not only does this make subsea acoustic systems more reliable and easier to operate, the technology has been proven to deliver significant operational savings.

Colin Erskine, Forum’s global rental business director commented, “ In the last three months we have experienced a significant increase in the number of enquiries for Sonardyne’s latest wideband technology and this purchase will allow us to meet this initial demand. I fully expect that as customers enjoy the new functionality that 6G offers we will be making more investments in this equipment which will further cement our position as a leading supplier of latest generation technology to the rental market. ”

Commenting on the order, Sonardyne’s Vice President Europe and Africa, Barry Cairns said, “ We are delighted that Forum Subsea Technologies has continued to experience growing demand for our 6G technology at its DPS Offshore rental business. The company has been a major rental supplier of Sonardyne products for many years and this latest order reflects the excellent performance, cost savings and versatility 6G offers its customers.”
