Tap Oil Limited provides the following update on the Tallaganda-1 exploration well in permit WA-351-P offshore Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia.
The Tallaganda-1 prospect straddles both the WA-351-P and WA-335-P permits in the Carnarvon Basin, offshore Western Australia. The well will target 0.8 to 1.3 Tcf (mean to P10) of gas within WA-351-P (Tap estimate).
The primary objective of the well is to test the gas potential of sandstones in the prolific Triassic age, Mungaroo Formation, in a well defined horst block as imaged by high quality modern 3D seismic data. A secondary objective exists in the shallower Barrow Formation.
Location / Proposed Depth
The Tallaganda-1 well is located within permit WA-351-P, of the Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia. The well is being drilled in 1,141 m of water and the primary Mungaroo Formation target will be intersected at approximately 3,800 m elow sea level. Secondary Mungaroo targets will see the well drilled to a depth of approximately 4,250 m below sea level.
Progress
During the period from spud at 0900 hours WST on 1 March 2012 to 0600 hours WST on 7 March 2012, the well was drilled to a depth of 2,070 m (MD) in 444.5 mm (171/2”) hole and surface and intermediate casing was run and cemented. At 0600 hours today WST testing of the blowout preventers (BOP) was in progress.
Forward Plan
Upon completion of the BOP test, the well will be drilled ahead in 311.15 mm (121/4”) hole to test the primary and secondary targets. Following evaluation the well will be plugged and abandoned in the normal course of offshore operations.
