Fred.Olsen Windcarrier recently held a naming ceremony for number three of the four Bayard class crew vessels. The ceremony took place at the waterfront downtown Mandal, Norway on a sunny day with Fred Olsen himself present.

Once godmother Ellen Oset officially named the vessel Bayard 3 with the traditional champagne on the bow, there were guided tours of the vessel and afterwards a festive lunch.

The Bayard class has been specifically designed to best serve the high demands of the wind industry. Purpose-built for safe and efficient transport of crew and cargo to and from offshore wind farms, the Bayard class sets the standard for future crew vessels.

The vessels are known for their outstanding performance, and in combination with their flexibility and efficiency, they are redefining the role of maritime support in the offshore wind industry.

The catamaran hull, with its ability to limit the vessel’s movements in open sea, ensures safe transfer of service technicians to the wind turbines, and optimizes passengers’ comfort while under way. The vessels have extensive deck space to cater for spare parts, tools, as well as two 10-foot-long containers if needed. The vessels are classed by DNV, thus ensuring the highest standard for its clients.
