Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia participated in organization of the visit of the representatives of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Croatia to the City of Split and the Hydrographic Institute on 8 and 9 March 2012.

Reception at Mayor’s Office for H.E. Mr. Shen Zhifei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Croatia, and representatives of the HHI, was given on 8 March by the Mayor of Split Mr. Željko Kerum and deputy mayors Mrs. Anđelka Visković and Mr. Jure Šundov. The meeting discussed the possibilities of business, economic, technical, and scientific cooperation of the City of Split, and maritime entities of the Split-Dalmatia County and other regions, with the People’s Republic of China, as well as the twinning of Split with a Chinese city (probably Ningbo).

Roundtable meeting “The Possibilities of Cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the Maritime Economy of the Adriatic” was held on 9 March at the Institute for Scientific and Artistic Research of the HAZU, Split (Milesi Palace). Presentations were given by H.E. Mr. Shen Zhifei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Croatia (“Scientific Exploration of Marine Resources, Promote China’s Peaceful Development”), and by Mr. Zvonko Gržetić, Ph.D., Director of the Hydrographic Institute (“Possibilities of Cooperation of the People’s Republic of China with the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia in the Field of Education“). The meeting also discussed the possibilities of economic and trade cooperation and the establishing of friendly relations with Chinese cities.

Besides representatives of the Chinese Embassy to Croatia, and representatives of the HHI, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Adriatic maritime economy, local government, universities, and public institutions.
