McDermott has awarded a major contract to Thrustmaster of Texas to upgrade its Derrick Barge DB30 with dynamic positioning capabilities (DP-2).
Thrustmaster of Texas will provide McDermott with a turnkey DP solution for its heavy-lift and pipelay vessel which will include eight 2,000hp retractable hydraulic thrusters combined with a comprehensive suite of Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning DP-2 electronic control systems.
Once the upgrades are completed, the 420-foot vessel will operate in Asia Pacific waters conducting deepwater and subsea installations where DP operations provide differentiating installation solutions.
