Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co yesterday, on March 14th, launched a KAMSARMAX type bulk carrier for ENA SHIPPING. This KAMSARMAX type bulk carrier of 82,100 DWT was developed by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding to be one of its major products alongside the TESS series.
The name “KAMSARMAX” derives from the ship’s length, which is the maximum possible for entry into the port of Kamsar in Guinea, West Africa. Kamsar is one of the world’s principal ports for bauxite.
The ship has 7 cargo holds, with side-rolling type hatch covers for each. In addition, cargo hold hatchways are built at maximum width to improve the efficiency of loading and unloading. Grain crops, coal, and iron ore can all be loaded onto the ship. High density material such as iron ore can be loaded into alternating cargo holds, such as No.1, No.3, No.5, and No.7.
Additionally, the ship is equipped with MT-FAST, which is designed to conserve energy, at the ship’s tail. The fuel tank is equipped with a double-hull in consideration of environmental concerns.
