According to a press release, Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCI) has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Union Shipping Ministry in New Delhi on Thursday.

Dredging Corporation of India Ltd has taken steps for augmentation of its capacity and increasing the strength of its fleet by purchasing three more dredgers, which are under construction at IHC, the Netherlands.

The first dredger is going to be delivered by the end of 2012.

A back hoe dredger constructed by De Donge, the Netherlands, has already joined the fleet during the year.

The MoU for the financial year 2012-13 was signed by Mr Pradeep Kumar Sinha, IAS, Secretary (Shipping), and Capt D.K.Mohanty, Chairman and MD of DCI.
