China: Jinhai Heavy, KOMAC Work on Development of New 74.500 DWT Bulk Carrier

In order to keep in line with the current shipping market and speed up the research and development on new-type vessels, Jinhai Heavy Industry had cooperation with KOMAC on designing 74,500 DWT Bulk Carrier. The design work of hull has just come to an end while subsequent works are also underway, going smoothly.

It is reported that Jinhai Heavy Industry, since last year, has optimized the product structures and made improvements and upgrade of available vessels, successfully built 76,000 DWT Bulk Carrier, 82,000 DWT Bulk Carrier, and 180,000 DWT Bulk Carrier successively. The 74,500 DWT Bulk Carrier currently under designing meets the demand of shipping market for its energy-saving and environmental protection. During the cooperation, through mutual communication and strengthening cooperation, JHI and KOMAC worked together to promptly solve all the problems by overcoming technical difficulties with tight schedule for its great importance, to realize the best production optimization and make full use of every plate.

In addition, since the subsequent design work on stern and superstructure of 74,500 DWT Bulk Carrier has just been stared following the design of hull, the whole join design work is expected to be accomplished at the end of this year.
