NYK-HINODE LINE, LTD. has been awarded the ocean carriage for module contract by JKC Joint Venture (JKC J/V) formed by JGC Corporation, KBR Overseas Inc., and Chiyoda Corporation for INPEX led Ichthys LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Project.
The Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between INPEX (76%, the operator) and Total (24%). Gas from the Ichthys Field, in the Browse Basin approximately 200 kilometres offshore of Western Australia, will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889km subsea pipeline. The Ichthys LNG Project is expected to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
For the Ichthys LNG Project, the LNG plant, including processing units, will be constructed off-site in large scale modules and shipped to Darwin for assembly.
NYK-HINODE LINE, LTD. will exclusively allocate two of its owned, operated, self-propelled module carriers, M/V YAMATO and M/V YAMATAI, to transport various main units as module cargo for this Project. The period of transportation is planned to be from the First Quarter of 2014 to the Second Quarter of 2015, and will involve transportation of modules from Thailand, China and the Philippines to Darwin, Australia. Twenty or more voyages are planned.
NYK-HINODE LINE has also been participating in and providing the transportation service for the Gorgon LNG project, which has been already awarded to transport modules to construction site of Barrow Island, Western Australia.
Module Ocean Transportation to Australia requires extremely high levels of environmental protection and safety standards and we believe these awards indicates confidence in NYK-HINODE LINE’s ability to manage environmental and safety concerns.
NYK Group will continue to pursue proactively in these promoting projects of Japan’s national energy policy.
