Northern Ireland’s Energy Minister Arlene Foster announced the publication of the ORESAP which presents vision for the delivery of offshore renewable energy in Northern Ireland waters to 2020 and beyond.
It contains actions to facilitate the opportunities and also address the challenges of offshore development.
The Crown Estate has worked positively with DETI as this Plan has developed. The first NI Offshore Leasing Round is well underway with the prospect of development rights being offered to successful developers by September 2012 in relation to offshore wind and tidal resource. Such projects will not only contribute to 2020 targets but will develop further in the period 2020-2030.
