Lotos Petrobaltic, an oil company that has an exclusive concession for the exploration and production of hydrocarbon fields in the Polish Offshore Economic Zone, has called for bids for service works on its jack-up platform.

The contract is for service works on Baltic Beta jack-up platform to strengthen the joints on the connection legs with feet in accordance with the Polish Register of Shipping (PRS). The Baltic Beta jack-up, built in 1977, was used as a drilling rig at different North Sea locations, but since 1994 it has been operating in Poland as a production platform.

The scope of work, that will occur some 75 km from the shoreline, comprises dredging operations to remove excess sand and other seabed materials to a depth of not less than 4-5 m below the seabed surface and 79m from the rig to bed the feet of the platform legs. Also, the company conducting works will be asked to provide stability by installing walls around the excavation spot to allow research by a diver at the upper surface of the foot into the average strength of a shear rate up to about 150 kPa;

Furthermore, the contract calls for the supply of an ROV, furnished with the system allowing the multi-directional scanning providing mapping shapes of the trench bottom and obstacles surrounding the platform base.

Since this is a restricted tender procedure, all the parties that express interest for the job will be asked to show that they have enough experience and resources to meet the requirements of the project by going through a pre-qualification procedure.

Deadline date for the submission of applications is April 2, 2012.
