Due to the fact that there are no wind turbines installed in the Great Lakes, the Obama administration, along with five states, has made a deal to speed up the approval process, according to the Associated Press.
Inspite of the statement from the officials, saying that the quickening of the process will not sacrifice environmental and safety standards, the opposition has claimed the wind turbines will ruin the view and harm the environment.
Three states, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin, that declined the invitation, will be able to join the other states, signatories of the agreement, namely Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Pennsylvania later on..
Nancy Sutley, chairwoman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality said: “This agreement among federal agencies and Great Lakes states is a smart, practical way to encourage the development of homegrown energy that will create jobs, power homes and reduce pollution in American communities.”
