Kleven Maritime delivered the LNG powered offshore supply vessel Viking Prince to Eidesvik Offshore on Friday, 30 March.

‘It is a great pleasure to deliver this advanced, environmentally friendly vessel to a ship owner that has a proven track record of taking every aspect of their environmental foot print very seriously, ’ said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven Maritime.

Eidesvik Offshore as owners are in the absolute forefront with regards to environmentally friendly offshore vessels, with several LNG powered vessels in their fleet. Kleven Maritime built the world’s first LNG powered supply vessel, Viking Energy, for Eidesvik in 2003. Kleven Maritime is Norway’s largest Norwegian-owned shipbuilding group, and is the leading supplier of advanced gas vessels, with six vessels delivered including three coastguard vessels, and two more LNG powered offshore vessels in its order book.

The next LNG vessel to be delivered from Kleven Yard is Viking Prince’ sister vessel which is to be delivered in September this year.

Viking Prince’ dead weight is 6 500 tons, length 90 meters, beam 21 meters, and with a deck space of more than 1 050 m2. Four LNG dual fuel engines ensure low NOX emissions (85% reduction) and significantly reduce CO2 emissions (25% reduction). A new state of the art system for purifying ballast water is installed.

Eidesvik has entered into an agreement with Lundin Norway for chartering of the vessel.
