According to certain industry officials cited by the Les Echoes, the decision of the French Government on the first round of bids for the offshore wind farm project is expected to be made today or tomorrow.
However, the French Government will further prolong the second round of bidding for offshore wind farms, confirms the daily.
It is added that the scope of the project could be reduced from the originally planned scale ranging between 750 megawatts to a maximum of 1,500 megawatts.
France launched a 10 billion euro ($14.30 billion) offshore wind power tender in July last year with a goal to bring offshore wind farm energy to the country.
The tender represents the first part of a plan to develop 6,000 megawatts of electricity capacity by 2020, which is expected to contribute to France’s objective to get 23% of its energy from renewable sources.
