Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Bhd’s (BHIC) subsidiary is awarded a contract worth RM1.53 billion for the Malaysian government’s patrol vessels.
Contraves Advanced Devices Sdn Bhd, subsidiary of BHIC, received letter of award for the second generation patrol vessel from Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS). This contract for littoral combat ships was previously awarded to BNS by the Malaysian government.
According to Thestar, the contract includes procurement of the combat management system (CMS), the Rheinmetall fire control system and the engineering and integration for the DCNS SETIS CMS. It is considered that the project would be fulfilled in 10 years.
About littoral combat ships: A littoral combat ship (LCS) is a type of relatively small surface vessel intended for operations in the littoral zone (close to shore). It is envisioned to be a networked, agile, stealthy surface combatant capable of defeating anti-access and asymmetric threats in the littorals.
