STL Research announce that they have recently been awarded Government funding to accelerate their project to develop an offshore personnel-access system.

Code-named Neptune, the system will space-stabilise its personnel carrier regardless of the motion of the ship on which it is mounted so that personnel can safely transfer to fixed structures offshore such as wind turbines and oil or gas platforms.

David Kirkley, Managing Director of STL Research said “The funding will enable us to continue with our development programme at an accelerated rate and also expand our engineering team. We are pleased that potential has been seen in the Neptune system. Also, it will significantly help us bring this technology to market”.

The funding, from the Technology’ Strategy Board’s ‘Smart’ scheme, will enable STL to prove the concept of the Neptune offshore personnel- access system, and gain Internationally-recognised accreditation for use offshore.

STL Research is exhibiting at All Energy 2012, on stand F31.
